A Letter From The President,
Mike Wilen

I'm Mike Wilen, founder and president of South Atlantic Sites. Working as a commercial real estate advisor for over a decade, I came to realize that consumer-oriented businesses are consistently under-served across the real estate industry. There are great local firms, but most can only handle individual markets. The global behemoths allow for national coverage, but struggle to cover smaller geographies or give attention to anyone except for their largest clients. I created South Atlantic Sites to provide operators and end-users looking to expand their business within the South Atlantic region the service, loyalty, and results that they deserve.
I was initially exposed to the world of land brokerage and retail real estate via my very first client, a regional, 50+ unit Burger King franchisee. Ever since I've been providing site selection advisory for ground-up construction, listing land for sale and offering retail tenant representation services to select clients. I've assisted a wide range of businesses in the planning and implementation of growth strategies by developing a deep understanding of a company's target customer, performing quantitative analyses of potential new markets and embedding with operations teams as well as corporate real estate departments to truly become a partner in the site selection process.
I'm proud to call Raleigh, North Carolina my permanent residence after leaving my hometown of St. Louis, MO to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (though I'm still a huge Cardinals baseball and UM football/basketball fan). I'm a proud dog father, avid gardener, outdoor enthusiast and DIY home improvement neophyte. I also enjoy taking road trips around the region and always have my eye open for potential sites, much to the chagrin of anyone traveling with me.
Since starting out in commercial real estate, I've been an active member of the Urban Land Institute, serving three years as the chair of the Triangle District Young Leaders Group as well as the ULI leadership & governance committees. I'm also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a supporter of the Wake County Boys & Girls Club.
If you are looking to expand in the South Atlantic region, I welcome the chance to learn more about who you are and to help craft a real estate strategy that will allow you to attain your business objectives. Give me a call at 919-438-0934 or email me at mike@southatlanticsites.com; I will respond within 24-hours.
